It will not commonly be deemed the best game in the universe of wagering, but keno has massive amounts of zealous players. Why wouldn’t it? It’s a routinely thrilling lottery-esque game that’s easy to learn, abundantly available in many different variations, and one that will pay out millions of dollars for players who learn its many subtle rules. But let’s deal with the basic rules for now.

When describing keno to newcomers, some gaming connoisseurs compare it to bingo. This is at least partially correct, in that both games are essentially numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far might be to minimize the innumerable unique traits that make keno so fun. Not like bingo, keno enthusiasts have the freedom to select the numbers for every card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the gambler is accord an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as she wants. And it doesn’t take a super genius to figure out how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your handpicked numbers with a ordinarymarker like you used when you were in grade 3.

After you have picked your numbers, take the card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The nice person will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not misplace this (potentially) valuable bit of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your mug and would like to help out, without a winning slip on you, you will get exactly $.00 for your efforts.

Ok, there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno receipt. Let’s go on to something a little bit more complicated, yes?

Now that you’ve picked out your numbers, get yourself into a comfortable keno booth and see the action unfold on the big keno monitor. That is where the winning numbers show up for all to see. If you selected winning numbers, mark your card aptly. Sake care not to take your time, or sit there congratulating yourself for too great a length of time. You want to get up to the keno booth to get your winnings, and a new keno game will likely start up within 5 minutes.

Strategy #2: always go back to the keno stand on time!

Since you don’t trust yourself to meet that 5 minute deadline every time, you always have the option of purchasing a "multi-race" ticket. These include the very same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 cards. When the max number of keno games (fitting the number of tickets) is played, you may then get off your lazy butt and go retrieve your winnings.

Another option is recognized as a "stray and play" keno card, which usually allows you make number choices for thirty games or more. Hell, you can take a world tour and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!

However, it does not hurt to bone up on the fundamentals, and if you are a novice player, every tiny bit of information will help make your keno playing more entertaining.
