Keno was introduced in 200 BC by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who utilized this game as a way to finance his failing army. The metropolis of Cheung was waging a battle, and after a bit of time appeared to be looking at a national famine with the dramatic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung had to come up with a rapid response for the financial disaster and to acquire revenue for his army. He, as it follows created the game we now know as keno and it was a fantastic success.

Keno was well-known as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were sent out by pigeons from larger municipalities to the smaller villages. The lotto ‘Keno’ was imported to the United States in the 19th century by Chinese migrants who came to the United States for jobs. In those times, Keno was played with one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is most often enjoyed with 80 numbers in most of American brick and mortar casinos as well as internet casinos. Keno is largely liked today as a result of the relaxed nature of betting the game and the simple fact that there are little expertise required to play Keno. Regardless of the reality that the chances of getting a win are terrible, there is always the chance that you could win quite large with little gambling investment.

Keno is enjoyed with 80 numbers and 20 numbers are picked each round. Gamblers of Keno can pick from 2 to ten numbers and bet on them, as much or as little as they are able to. The pay out of Keno is dependent on the bets made and the matching of numbers.

Keno has grown in popularity in the US since the end of the 1800’s when the Chinese letters were changed with more familiar, American numbers. Lotteries were not covered under the legalization of gambling in Nevada State in 1931. The casinos changed the name of the ‘Chinese lottery’ to ‘horse race keno’ employing the concept that the numbers are horses and you are wanting your horses to come in. When the Nevada government passed a law that levied a tax on off track gambling, Nevada casinos quickly adjusted the name to ‘Keno’.
