It won’t generally be looked at as the sexiest game in the arena of gambling, but keno has millions of steadfast supporters. And it should! It’s a regularly exciting lotto-style game that’s simple to learn, abundantly available in a number of different styles, and one that can yield millions for those who master its countless subtle nuances. But let’s begin with the beginner’s rules for now.
When describing keno to novices, some betting connoisseurs compare it to bingo. This is at least in part correct, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to take that comparison too far would be to misunderstand the innumerable unique characteristics that make keno so fun. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the freedom to pick the numbers for each card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the user is granted an increased level of personal responsibility by being able to decide on as many (or as few) numbers as he wants. And it doesn’t take a doctor of keno to ascertain how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your handpicked numbers with a ordinary#2 pencil like you used back in the day.
Now that you have checked your numbers, carry your game card back to the clerk at the keno booth. The clerk will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) valuable piece of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers you and wants help out, without a winning receipt in hand, you will get exactly $.00 for your actions.
Now there you have strategy #1: always make sure to keep your keno receipt. Let us go on to something a bit more complicated, ok?
Now that you’ve checked off your numbers, get yourself into a comfortable keno booth and see the action take place on the video monitor. This is where the winning numbers are shown in lights. If you have winning numbers, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to take too much time, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You really want to get back to the keno stand to get your winnings, as a new round of keno will probably start within not too many minutes.
Strategy number two: always go back to the keno stand on time!
Assuming you can not trust yourself to make that 5 minute deadline each time, you always retain the option of purchasing a "multi-race" card. These include the very same set of your desired numbers on anywhere from two to 20 slips. When the max number of games (fitting the number of tickets) is finished, you should then get off your lazy butt and go collect your winnings.
Still another choice is known as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which usually lets you make number choices for thirty keno games or more. Golly, you can take vacation to France and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to retrieve your winnings. Most "stray and play" game tickets are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
So now you are aware of a couple of essential methods for winning keno. If you are a good user, they might appear to be very obvious. But it will not hurt to brush up on the basic practices, and if you are a novice user, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno games more agreeable.
