Keno was created in 200 BC by the Chinese army leader, Cheung Leung who used this game as a financial resource for his failing army. The city of Cheung was at war, and after a bit of time appeared to be looking at a national shortage of food with the dramatic decrease in supplies. Cheung Leung had to develop a quick response for the financial calamity and to acquire income for his military. He, as it follows designed the game we know today as keno and it was a great success.

Keno was referred to as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were broadcast by pigeons from larger municipalities to the lesser towns. The lotto ‘Keno’ was imported to the United States in the 19th century by Chinese immigrants who came to the US to jobs. In those times, Keno used 120 numbers.

Today, Keno is typically bet on with eighty numbers in most of American brick and mortar casinos as well as web casinos.
