Keno was created in two hundred before Christ by the Chinese military leader, Cheung Leung who used keno as a way to finance his declining forces. The metropolis of Cheung was at war, and after some time appeared to be facing national shortage of food with the drastic drop in supplies. Cheung Leung had to create a fast response for the economic calamity and to produce income for his military. He thusly designed the game we know today as keno and it was a fantastic success.

Keno was known as the White Pigeon Game, since the winning numbers were sent out by pigeons from larger municipalities to the lesser villages. The lotto ‘Keno’ was imported to the United States in the 1800s by Chinese expatriates who came to the United States for work. In those times, Keno was played with one hundred and twenty numbers.

Today, Keno is typically wagered on with eighty numbers in a majority of American based casinos along with net casinos. Keno is largely liked today because of the relaxed nature of gambling the game and the simple fact that there are no skills needed to enjoy Keno. Regardless of the reality that the chances of succeeding are horrible, there is always the hope that you might win quite big with little gaming investment.

Keno is played with 80 numbers and twenty numbers are selected each game. Players of Keno can select from two to 10 numbers and wager on them, as much or as little as they are able to. The payout of Keno is dependent on the wagers made and the roll out of matching numbers.

Keno grew in universal appeal in the United States near the close of the 19th century when the Chinese characters were changed with more familiar, American numbers. Lotteries were not covered under the legalization of gaming in the state of Nevada in 1931. The casinos adjusted the name of the ‘Chinese lotto’ to ‘horse race keno’ utilizing the concept that the numbers are horses and you want your horses to come in. When the Nevada government passed a law that levied a tax on off track betting, casinos quickly altered the name to ‘Keno’.
