It won’t generally be seen as the most lucrative game in the world of gambling, but keno has loads of devout followers. And it should! It’s a regularly thrilling lotto-type game that’s a snap to master, abundantly available in a number of alternate styles, and one that can yield mega-dollars for gamblers who learn its endless subtle rules. But let’s begin with the basic rules here.
When defining keno to newbies, some gambling experts compare it to the lottery. This is at least partly apt, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to carry that comparison too far can be to belittle the great many unique characteristics that make keno so exciting. Unlike bingo, keno enthusiasts have the power to select the numbers for every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of 80 numbers, but the user is furnished with an additional degree of personal responsibility by being able to pick as many (or as few) numbers as he or she desires. And it doesn’t take a doctor of keno to come up with how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark all of your desired numbers with a good oldpen like you had when you were in school.
Now that you have checked your numbers, take the card back to the keno pit manager at the keno stand. The person will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Don’t lose this (potentially) expensive piece of paper! Even if the clerk remembers your loud shirt and wants help out, without a winning slip with you, you will be given exactly $.00 for your winning card.
Now there you have strategy #1: always be sure to keep your keno slip. Let’s move to something a tiny bit more advanced, ok?
After you’ve checked off your numbers, get into a comfortable keno booth and watch the action take place on a video monitor. This is where the winning numbers show up for us. If you picked winners, mark your card accordingly. Make sure not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You are required to get up to the keno booth to collect your winnings, as a new drawing will probably start up within a few minutes.
Strategy number two: always go back to the keno booth on time!
Assuming you don’t trust yourself to beat that five-minute margin each time, you always retain the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 tickets. When the maximum number of keno games (fitting the amount of tickets) is played, you should then get off your lazy butt and go retrieve your winnings.
Still another alternative is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which commonly allows you make number choices for thirty keno rounds or more. Heck, you can take a Swedish massage and not have to get uptight about getting back in time to redeem your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
So now you know a couple of needed strategies for winning keno. If you are an advanced user, they might seem quite obvious. However, it doesn’t hurt to study up on the basic tactics, and if you are a new keno player, every tiny bit of advice will help make your keno playing more entertaining.
